Successful Acceptance and Review of the "Multi-dimensional Intelligent Exhibition Innovation Platform Based on Multi-source Heterogeneous Network Database" Project by School of Journalism and Communications and SMI

On the afternoon of November 16, the acceptance and review meeting for the sub-project of the Shanghai High-level University Construction Project, the "Multi-dimensional Intelligent Exhibition Innovation Platform Based on Multi-source Heterogeneous Network Database" of School of Journalism and Communications at Shanghai University was successfully held in hybrid format in Laboratory 306, Intelligent Communication Experimental Building of the School of Journalism and Communications.

The review expert group was chaired by Professor Yan Sangu, Dean of the School of Journalism and Communications and project leader. It consisted of 5 experts: Professor Wang Hu, project coordinator of the School of Journalism and Communications; Teacher Hu Siwen, head of the Experimental Center; Professor Zha Canchang, exhibition expert; Professor He Huiwen, exhibition expert. The representatives of Party A were Professor Zhang Min, Executive Dean of SMI and leader of exhibition studies at Shanghai University; and Assistant Researchers Li Qiuqiu, Guo Feng and Xu Huizi from the Institute. Party B representatives included Ms. Bai Guixiang, founder of 31 Events.; Mr. Yang Zheng, exhibition expert; Zhang Yanbin, project manager; Zhou Qin, product manager; and Yuan Lenan, KA manager. The review meeting was chaired by Professor Yan Sangu.

The Shanghai High-level University Construction Project has been continuously supported by the Shanghai Municipal Finance for 5 years. It is carried out in stages, demonstrating Shanghai's determination and strength to build itself into a modern international metropolis. This project is based on high-level academic innovation and serves the construction of research-oriented universities. Its core function is to build a global exhibition dynamics monitoring and evaluation intelligent innovation special platform, which specifically consists of three parts: database, case base and evaluation system, namely the intelligent special database for the distribution of global exhibition strengths, the intelligent special case base for expo display art and technology, and the intelligent special evaluation system for exhibition projects. It serves the collection, storage, analysis, intelligent retrieval and display of exhibition data and cases, the comparative demonstration of intelligent comprehensive evaluation and data conclusions of professional exhibitions, and is mainly used for exhibition industry consulting, planning evaluation, planning management, teaching and research, striving to achieve seamless integration of technology platforms, operation models and research applications. The goal of the project construction is to take exhibition research to a higher level, create a "Shanghai School" with international vision and first-class standards, strive to take the lead among exhibition majors in Chinese universities, and further strengthen its characteristic advantages on the basis of the "nine firsts".

The review experts and project leaders gathered together. Based on the project contract requirements and technical standards, in-depth discussions were carried out through detailed project presentations, trial use reports and on-site demonstrations. The budget application for this project was started by the sponsoring school in late 2021. It went through more than 9 months and 18 revisions before forming the overall goals for 2022-2025, stage goals for 2022, and special goals. After the project was officially launched on July 15 this year, it went through public bidding procedures and extensive in-depth docking between the school and the enterprise. The supply-demand docking of the project started in early September. The project was officially launched in mid-September. From the project acceptance review on November 16, the total time for system development, data import and testing was only two months. On the basis of basic completion of system development, Party A spent two weeks and a large amount of effort to test the development version, entered a large amount of test data, and carried out modifications, improvements and functional optimizations on more than 80 large and small issues discovered during testing through close cooperation between the two parties. Then the acceptance version was submitted. After repeated inquiries and extensive discussions at the on-site review, the expert group suggested strengthening the intelligent characteristics and innovative support to strive for a first-class level of exhibition research and play an exemplary leading role. The group agreed that the project has basically met the contract requirements, can meet the needs, complies with the acceptance standards, and approved the project acceptance.

Of course, project acceptance is not only the end point of a stage of work, but also the starting point for new goals in the future. The expert group looks forward to the two parties continuing close cooperation, facing the project needs and expert expectations, effectively solving the problems raised during the review trial use, especially batch data entry and personnel training. On the basis of summarizing experiences, the direction and technical requirements for further improvement of the project will be proposed. Dean Yan Sangu expressed his heartfelt thanks to the experts participating in the review and the representatives of Party A and Party B who successfully completed the tasks. He emphasized that the Shanghai High-level University Construction Project pays special attention to high levels. The review standards require first-class domestically and internationally. The project will continue for five years. With the exhibition project as a start, Shanghai University still has huge room for cooperation with responsible enterprises. The exhibition major of Shanghai University is currently the only undergraduate interdisciplinary exhibition pilot unit jointly built by the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipal Government. The School of Journalism and Communication is a key base jointly built by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Shanghai Municipal Government for scientific research, social service and talent cultivation. It is hoped that the exhibition major will focus on integrating industry, academia, research and application. It is expected that this project will become an important part of the Shanghai Intelligent Media Communication Innovation Experimental Center that the school is actively building, play an exemplary and leading role among exhibition majors in Chinese universities, and make more and greater contributions to the scientific research, talent cultivation, and social services of the exhibition profession.

Ms. Bai Guixiang, representative of Party B, sincerely thanked Shanghai University for its trust and the school leaders and teachers for taking time out of their busy schedule to attend the project review. She said that according to the project contract requirements and technical standards, the customized development of the three sub-projects was completed on schedule, which was indeed a test of the company's capabilities and brand reputation. Bayingtu is a responsible company. The more than two months of project development was tight on time, heavy on tasks, high on pressure and demanding on requirements. The ability to complete the tasks on schedule and smoothly enter the review stage relied on the hard work of professionals and sincere cooperation between the school and enterprise.

Party A representative made a testing report. Li Qiuqiu, Assistant to the Dean of the SMI, said that the database, case base and evaluation system were developed based on the SMI index developed by the SMI, and the large amount of data on global exhibition projects, exhibitors and professional venues accumulated from more than 10 years of Blue Book work. Among them, the design of the intelligent special database for the distribution of global exhibition strengths was based on the "5+3" concept, namely realizing five basic functions of data entry, data storage, data management, data analysis and data visualization. At present, the system has basically met the technical standards and product requirements during procurement, demonstrating the company's strong technical capabilities and business level.

Assistant Researcher Guo Feng introduced that the intelligent special case base for expo display art and technology contains two sub-bases: the display art case base and the display technology case base. The two case bases can meet the functions of information collection, entry archiving, query screening, and export comparison, facilitating the scientific research and teaching of exhibition professionals. Assistant Researcher Xu Huizi believes that the purpose of the exhibition project evaluation system is to conduct comprehensive evaluations and comparative studies on domestic and foreign exhibition projects. Over the years, the Institute has established a set of comprehensive indicator evaluation system based on annual assessments. The developed system can realize functions such as index definition, index modeling, and weight assignment, which is helpful for carrying out comparative studies on national, provincial, municipal and market entity exhibition strengths on the basis of actual project evaluations, and dynamically grasping the latest information on the development of the global exhibition industry with a global perspective.

On the basis of demonstration reports and trial use reports, the review experts put forward guiding opinions. Professor Wang Hu proposed that the project should be based on high-end intelligent communication research and play an exemplary leading role. It should focus on high levels and focus on serving the needs of exhibition research, while paying attention to the scalability of databases, application innovation trends of algorithms, and subsequent service support and further development of the three projects. Professor Zha Canchang believed that the project needs to pay attention to dynamic system upgrades and expansion of data sources. It is suggested to continuously accumulate and improve in the future with reference to the technological progress of advanced domestic and foreign databases, and continuously broaden the prospects for the development of exhibition research.

Professor He Huiwen believed that this set of intelligent exhibition data systems is a process of constant trial and improvement, and it will play an important supporting role in exhibition research and teaching. It is suggested that data collection and update in the future should gradually form scientifically unified calibers and standards, and then move towards intelligent collection and intelligent entry, so that exhibition data research will become more objective, reliable, credible and influential.

Teacher Hu Siwen, head of the Experimental Center, said that the school will strongly support laboratory construction and database construction in the future, take the initiative to develop physical space, apply for virtual space, actively connect with the Information Office and Equipment Department, and make efforts to coordinate the school, enterprises and departments.

Finally, Dean Yan Sangu emphasized that as an important resource for research universities and an important part of the Shanghai Intelligent Media Communication Innovation Experimental Center, the project should focus on highlighting the key to intelligent innovation, strengthen the intelligent characteristics and innovative support of the intelligent exhibition innovation platform, play an exemplary leading role, strive to achieve first-class standards in domestic exhibition research, serve the construction of Shanghai high-level universities, serve the construction of an international exhibition capital, and serve the communication activities of a modern international metropolis.
