Shanghai Exhibition Industry Association currently has nearly 600 effective members, covering almost the entire industrial chain including exhibition organizers, exhibition center operators, exhibition design, engineering and construction, exhibition media, advertising, consulting, education and training, conference organization, exhibition tourism, event planning, etc. The association joined the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) in 2012 as a formal member, and was awarded the title of "China Social Organization Class AAAA" by the Ministry of Civil Affairs in the same year. 2014 was a crucial year for Shanghai to achieve the "12th Five-Year Plan" goals. Under the leadership and care of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Government, Shanghai's exhibition industry maintained steady growth at 7%. All types of exhibitions continued to expand, international conferences stood out with high professional standards, events were colorful, 200,000 sqm of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) commenced operation, personnel training and certification progressed in full swing. All these promoted construction of software and hardware environment for exhibition industry development and standardized order, laying a solid foundation for achieving the "12th Five-Year Plan" goals. This book summarizes Shanghai's exhibition industry development in the previous year from four parts: exhibitions, international conferences, events, and Pudong New Area; analyzes the work of Shanghai Exhibition Industry Association in 2014; discusses industry dynamics and reflections on existing issues by scholars and practitioners; and appendices.
