The 14th Five-Year Plan of Shanghai's Exhibition Industry

[Abstract] The research project Key Indicators and Major Measures for Shanghai Building an International Exhibition City during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period is a key annual commercial research project commissioned by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce in 2020. It was approved for implementation after competitive social bidding and expert evaluation. Under the leadership of the competent government department and with support from the exhibition industry, the research adheres to the principles of combining government guidance with market operation, balancing two-way opening-up of the domestic and international markets, achieving interactive win-win development of exhibition and advantageous industries, giving equal emphasis to independent development, cultivation & upgrading and bidding for & introduction of exhibitions, promoting coordinated development of exhibition, convention, celebration, event and travel, and advancing in parallel venue construction and capacity improvement. With research foundations including evaluation of exhibition industry productivity's three elements, SMI's comprehensive evaluation indicator system for exhibitions, and databases for dynamic evaluation of domestic and foreign exhibition industry in the Blue Book series, it has undergone extensive solicitation of opinions including in-depth research, opening report, mid-term review, pre-conclusion evaluation, repeated modifications and enhancements, and successfully passed expert evaluation. The research has important academic reference value and practical guiding significance for Shanghai's commitment in the 14th Five-Year Plan period to fully building itself into an international exhibition city.
