Shanghai MICEE Institute's "Yiwu Exhibition Industry 14th Five-Year DevelopmentPlan" Passes Expert Review and Concludes Successfully

On the afternoon of March 26, the final expert review meeting for the "Yiwu Exhibition Industry 14th Five-Year DevelopmentPlan" project of Shanghai MICEE Institute was successfully held in Yiwu. The review experts included Prof. Chu Xiangyin, Executive Vice Chairman of China Exhibition Economy Research Association, Guo Mukai, Senior Economist and Former Chairman of Zhejiang Provincial International Exhibition Association, Liu Mingguang, Deputy Director of Department of Trade in Services of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce, Wang Jianming, Member of Decision-making Advisory Committee of Yiwu Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, and Zhang Jieli, Head of Exhibition Major at Yiwu Business College. Leaders from Yiwu Municipal Market Development Committee, Development and Reform Bureau, Bureau of Commerce, Bureau of Standardization, Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, Market Supervision Bureau, Yiwu Commercial City Group, Yiwu Business College and other units attended the meeting. Prof. Zhang Min, Executive Dean of Shanghai MICEE Institute, and representatives of the project team Tang Hua, Li Qiuqiu were present. This project is a key project of Yiwu Municipal Market Development Committee in 2020. Shanghai University won the bid through competitive social bidding and defense. After half a year of preliminary research, project initiation report, draft preparation, mid-term review, expert seminars, public consultations, repeated modifications and improvements, it finally concluded successfully with the expert review.

Prof. Zhang Min, Executive Dean of Shanghai MICEE Institute at Shanghai University, gave a detailed report on the formulation of the 14th Five-Year Plan for Yiwu's exhibition industry. Based on benchmarking world-renowned exhibition cities and eight thematic studies, the plan focused on exploring the leading and pioneering role of Yiwu's exhibition industry in the transformation and upgrading of small commodities, rapid growth of new growth drivers, integrated development of the large market, and improvement of metropolitan services. It conducted in-depth research and demonstrated the complex situation, guiding ideology, development principles, goals and tasks facing Yiwu's exhibition industry in the 14th Five-Year Plan period. It proposed targeted key initiatives aligned with Yiwu's goal of building itself into a "World Capital of Small Commodities", including high-quality development strategies, high-level project systems, high-capability market entities, high-standard infrastructure, and highly efficient service models. It made great efforts to improve Yiwu's exhibition industry in resource allocation, innovation clustering, industrial leadership, and opening-up hub functions, striving to serve as an innovation engine for Yiwu's high-quality development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. The plan proposes that by 2025, Yiwu will preliminarily build itself into a "world-renowned exhibition city" and "national leading exhibition brand".

The experts carefully reviewed the final report, and unanimously agreed through Q&A and discussions that the plan objectively summarized the achievements and deficiencies of Yiwu's exhibition industry during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. Centered around the overall goal of building a "World Capital of Small Commodities", it clearly defines the development positioning of building itself in phases into a world-renowned exhibition city and national leading exhibition brand during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, and scientifically plans the development principles, goals and key initiatives. The expert panel emphasized that the plan has a high vision, clear goals, specific tasks, detailed information, standardized texts, and demonstrates foresight, innovation and operability. It will play an important guiding role and have academic reference value for the high-quality development of Yiwu's exhibition industry. The expert panel fully recognized the wisdom, hard work and achievements of Prof. Zhang Min and the Shanghai MICEE Institute project team in formulating the results of the 14th Five-Year Plan for Yiwu's exhibition industry.

Before the end of the review meeting, Tong Duanying, Deputy Director of Yiwu Municipal Market Development Committee, gave concluding remarks. He highly appreciated Prof. Zhang Min and the project team's dedication and high-quality work in formulating the plan, and sincerely thanked the experts for their valuable suggestions and opinions. He believed that Yiwu's exhibition industry has unique advantages. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, it must adapt to the new development stage, implement the new development philosophy, build a new development pattern, initiate offensives on many fronts such as development strategies, project systems, infrastructure, market entities and service models, and make full efforts to promote Yiwu's exhibition industry towards marketization, branding, specialization, internationalization, digitalization and ecological development, providing inexhaustible impetus for building Yiwu into a "World Capital of Small Commodities" at a high level.
